Pouilly Fumé Cuvée de Boisfleury 2007

Few wines illustrate the influence of "terroir" more effectively than Alan Cailbourdin. This is achieved through a policy of short prunning, low yield, gentle pressing and controlled fermentations with wild yeast. The vines producing Cuvée Boisfleury are grown on limestone and silt, which brings a vivacity to this cuvée with expressive aromas of grapefruit, passionfruit, rose petals and white flowers. Its structure is light, fruity, elegant and feminine

Domaine A. Cailbourdin

The estate was created in 1980 and today it is comprised of 16 hectares (approximately 40 acres) of vines planted in some of the best Pouilly-Fumé slopes. About half of the vines are ``vieilles vignes`` or old vines; the other half are vines planted since 1980. Grapes grown on the different slopes are vinified separately, thus permitting the production of four different cuvees, each representing a distinctive terroir and aromatic expression. Constant concern for quality is evident throughout the winemaking process, from the vineyard to the cellar. The guiding principle is to bring forth the quality and diversity of the terroir, based on the principle that a wine can only be great if it has the mineral support of a quality terroir. The art of the winemaking profession consists of giving the grapes all the possible chances to reveal their qualities. The idea of terroir is of course essential to these wines. Pouilly Fumé Les Cornets 2007

Few wines illustrate the influence of "terroir" more effectively than Alan Cailbourdin. This is achieved through a policy of short prunning, low yield, gentle pressing and controlled fermentations with wild yeast. The vines producing Les Cornets are grown on kimmeridgian marl (limestone clay). The wine needs a year to obtain their full expression of aromas of white flowers (hawthorn and acacia) followed by nuances of blackberry buds, pineapple and peaches finishing on clean mineral gunflint notes. Quince and mango develop after a few years in bottle. On the palate the experssion is masculine, powerful and long. [read on...]

Pouilly-Fume Les Cris 2007

Few wines illustrate the influence of "terroir" more effectively than Alan Cailbourdin. This is achieved through a policy of short prunning, low yield, gentle pressing and controlled fermentations with wild yeast. The vines producing Les Cris Are grown on pebbly limestone soil locally called "Caillotes". Its style is the most characteristic of A Carlbourdins wines, extraordinarly elegant with aromas of pineapple, citrus and peach with mineral tones.
