Dalmore 12 YO - Northern Highlands
Spirit; ABV: 43%;House style-Rich, flavourful, orange marmalade. After dinner. Colour-Full amber Nose-Powerful, with fruit, malt and sherry. Body-Medium to full. Velvet smooth. Palate-Rich, with gradual restrained flavour development. Malty sweetness, bittersweet orange, spiciness, perfuminess, heather, light peat:even a slight salty tang of the sea. Finish-Remarkably long.
The Dalmore
For well over a century, The Dalmore has been made by hand by a small company of local stillmen. The process is meticulous, and includes double distillations in copper pot-stills and patient aging in white oak and sherry wood casks.
The distillery was established in 1839, and its features the clan crest of the Mackenzie family, who purchased the distillery in 1886. The 12-point stag antlers from that crest still appear on every bottle of The Dalmore today.
