Domaine Taupenot-Merme

Taupenot Merme is a well established 7th generation domaine located in Morey St Denis. Roman Taupenot took over the reins from his parents in 1998 and has spent the last few years slowly shaking things up. Since 2003, the 13 hectare Domaine, much of it with lovely old vines, has been 100% organic and the results are certainly starting to show. There is a lovely energy to his wines allowing differences in terroir to be fully expressed and they show all the hallmarks of being excellent keepers. The two grand crus, Charmes and the rarely seen Mazoyères are a classy double act and offer a real choice between the more alluring, softer Charmes and the meatier, richer old vine fruit of the Mazoyères.
