Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay 2008

Produced from Chardonnay grapes grown near Auxerre this so called "simple Chablis" style Burgundy is by no means simple or rodinary. The nose is fresh and vivacious with notes of citrus and acacia flowers. The flavour is full and round with hints of white flowers, lemon and brioche. It has real character and quality about it and offers fine value.

The Chablis wine growing area is one of the oldest in France, covering more than 4,300 hectares. The region is is located in a continental zone; hot in summer and cold in winter with spectacular spring frosts. Chablishas a Kimmeridgian subsoil, consisting of lime marl and oyster fossils. This substrate is rich and porous, allowing deep rooting of the vines and even water intake. Alain Geoffroy estate is a family business was established in 1850 and has about 45 hectares under vine. Although this is the first level of the Chablis apellation let there be no misunderstanding about the expression "Pitit". It is certainly not representative of it quality. Its bouquet is younge, fresh and vivacious with a whirlwind of fragrant floral and fruit scents. Its flavour is pleasant, lively and fruity with a touch of lemons and green apples and minerals.
