History and Philosophy
Domaine de Gry-Sablon is situated in Emeringes, a village made up of slopes that face the southern sun. Dominique Morel owns 16 hectares and only vinifies his own grapes. Apart from Morgon, he also produces Fleurie, Juliénas, Régnié, St Amour as well as three colours of Beaujolais-Villages. The domaine was created in the early 1900s when Mr Cinquin - great-grand-father of Mr Albert Morel - arrived in Emeringes. In 1991 Dominique Morel, an oenologist, joined his father.
The research efforts in the last few years have led to the invention of an MPC device (Prefermentation Warm Maceration). This system extracts more colour and ripe berry aromas by warming up the grapes for 8 hours before the fermentation starts. 30% of Beaujolais houses (and Burgundy) are now equipped with this device.

Once again Dominique Morel has produced a block-buster of a rose, awarded a Gold Medal in Paris for the third year running. Regnie Grand Crû 2008
This is the 10th and most recently created Beaujolais Grand Crû and as such is relatively unknown. Relatively light yet supple with good structure, cherry-red in colour with aromas of redcurrant, blackberries and fresh raspberries. Beaujolais Village Rouge 2008
A fine beaujolais with the superior 'Villages' appellation. Red fruits aroma (blueberries, cassis and bilberries) follows onto the palate which is ample and persistent. A really versatile wine with a variety of foods, terrine, pike in cream sauce, charcuterie capon, veal and cheese or simply enjoy it on its own. [read on...]
