A stunningly good sweet white wine that is unique to the Western Cape. Muscat of Alexandrie grapes (known locally as Hanepost) are dried to raisins on a bed of organic Roubos Tea known since the time of the San for its medicinal qualities. During the drying process the fragrance of Rovilios tea infuses the grapes. They are then gathered, put through a crusher and soaked in their own concentrated grape juice to rehydrate them. The mash is then pressed and a sauterne yeast added for fermentation in oak casks. The resultant nectar, a marriage of ripe Muscat and Rooibos has the scents and flavours of apricot honey and exotic fruits. [read on...]
